Unforgettable Sugar Cookies with Almond Buttercream Frosting


  1. 1 cups butter, soft
  2. 1 cups sugar
  3. 3 eggs
  4. 3 1/2 cups flour
  5. 1 tsp baking soda
  6. 2 tsp cream of tartar
  7. 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  8. 2 tsp almond extract


  1. 1/2 cup butter, soft
  2. 3 cups powdered sugar
  3. 2 tbsp whole milk
  4. 1 tsp vanilla extract
  5. 1/2 tsp almond extract


  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. In a separate bowl combine flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar. Beat flour mixture into wet mixture. Add flavorings last. Roll out dough 1/4 inch thick and cut out desired shapes. Place cookies on cookie sheets lined with parchment (do not use cooking spray). Bake 9-12 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE. Makes 5-7 dozen depending on size of cookies.


  1. Cream butter together until fluffy. Alternately beat in powdered sugar and milk. Beat in vanilla and almond extracts and beat for several minutes until smooth and fluffy. Add more or less powdered sugar and milk to get desired consistency.
