Lately we’ve been trying to have more reading time at our house. To be honest, we haven’t been very consistent about reading books to the boys, or just making them have some quiet book time every day. But with O in kindergarten and learning to read, we really want to encourage reading and make reading fun and exciting for him. He’s my little perfectionist and gets pretty impatient if he don’t know how to read a word right away {can’t wait for homework!}
It’s funny though, the more we read to the boys, the more they ask to be read to {crazy concept!}. They’re asking for books throughout the day, books in the car. And reading a book before bed really does make bedtime easier. Especially when Darth Vader is telling them bedtime is cool. Same goes with nap time.
Two things that have really helped make reading more fun have been 1) getting new inventory + 2) creating a cozy spot to read at home.
I’m dying to make the boys a reading nook in their bedroom, but for now I’ll just throw some pillows and a blanket on the floor to make a cozy reading spot. Works great until they start wrestling โโ ๐
I’ve linked our latest favorites below! What books are your kids loving?!
Goodnight Darth Vader– my boys are obsessed with Star Wars = this book makes bed time cool = winning!!
SuperHero ABC– had them at superhero.
Usborn Very First Reading – we’ve slowly started these books with O. I love the parent-read, child-read style. It makes it fun to do together.
I Will Take a Nap– we’ve only read this one a few times in the last few days, but all of a sudden Miles is telling me when he’s tired and wants to take a nap! say whaaa?
The Day The Crayons Quit– such a cute one! fun for kids back in school and coloring a lot!
My Amazing Body– a long one. but wow, my kiddos love it and are soooo interested in their bodies! it helps teach them about how to take care of their bodies too (EAT YO VEGGIES BOYS!)
If You Give a Mouse an Iphone– ummm, maybe this one is more for the parents??? #iphoneguilt
The Book With No Pictures – we all laugh when we read this one!
Boy + Bot – little boy befriends a bot. and now Owen and Miles think they’ll meet a robot.
And just a couple more oldies, but goodies– if you have an Owen, then this one is just a must have. And this one is a great busy book for boys.

I’m loving your new blog! We are always looking for new books so I will definitely check some of these out. Eli loves don’t let the pigeon drive the bus and the pigeon needs a bath. Also the watermelon seed and my lucky day. They are cute books. Your book crate is cute too!
