A few weekends ago Brett took the day off of work (for his birthday!) and we headed to Balboa Island for the day. It’s about an hour from us and it’s been on my bucket list since we moved to San Diego a year ago. We didn’t really have an agenda other than to explore and just have fun….and eat a Balboa Bar ๐
First stop–the Balboa Candy Store. The boys helped fill a bag of taffy (which shockingly cost us $13) and we are still working on it. But that taffy was great bribery throughout the day;)
The girl working the candy counter suggested we go to Wilma’s Patio for lunch, that we wouldn’t find a more kid-friendly + yummy place to eat. And it was! Everyone was incredibly kind and happy and loved our kids. Even though they were loud and wiggly and practically playing the drums with the silverwear ๐ (ps- the Sourdough Cheeseburger is amazing! The bread is crusted in parmesan cheese you guys. Definitely a must try).
From there we walked a mile or so to catch the Ferry and ride over to the Balboa Peninsula. We walked to the Pier, where the boys watched fishermen fishing (we could have been there for hours).
The park on the beach was a great “break” from all of our walking. Speaking of, this little guy was the best adventurer and pretty content in the stroller most of the day. Say whaaaa?
We finished up at the Balboa Fun Zone where we rode the ferris wheel, let the boys play a few arcade games, and finally ate a Balboa Bar (or two) and chocolate covered frozen bananas. We kept the day pretty inexpensive, we were only there for an afternoon and most of our money was spent on food, not activities!
PS- the boys sunnies are the best sunglasses we’ve found for them. Only $10 and they’re rubber, flexible, and comfy. It’s like you can’t break them! And they’re polarized. Perfect for kiddos and lots of fun colors.)
