This Spicy Orzo and Black Bean Salad has some kick to it…just the way my husband like its. It’s how he likes all of his food actually. He is the guy that grabs his favorite bottle of hot sauce or crushed chili peppers before he even tries his food. It used to bug me; I assumed it meant he thought my meals were blah, dull, and lacking flavor (although I’m sure they’ve only gotten better over the two years we’ve been married)! Anyways, I’ve just accepted the fact that he likes his food with some kick. I, on the other hand, like spicy food but usually keep shoving it in my mouth until my lips are burning and mouth is on fire….and then I’m miserable.
With this dish, I never got to that point, even as I kept shoving it in. Brett didn’t bust out his hot sauce either. Miraculous! Mission accomplished! I think the fresh jalapeno gives it a perfect, refreshing kick.

That looks delicious! I was just telling Nathan today that I enjoy a dish that keeps burning a little after I am done eating, not really hot, just a little lingering burn, I will have to try this!
