While we were playing with the gingerbread family cookies the other day– eating and dipping and dipping and eating– we decided it’d be fun to make gingerbread garland to hang on the tree too.
And to add a little color we strung on some dried clementine slices! We used our dehydrator and just let them dry out over night. They’re so good! Kind of like candy 🙂 I think dry clementine slices more often just to snack on…
To make these you need Gingerbread people, clementines (and a dehydrator), and twine/string/yarn. Slice the clementines into thin rounds (like above) and dehydrate the slices for 6-8 hours.
Using a clean, small screw driver (like really small), gently twist a hole towards the top-center of each gingerbread man/person making the whole large enough to slide your string or twine through.
Thread the gingerbread men and the clementines on the string alternatingly. Or do a few clementines in between each gingerbread man. Make it as long as you want, depending on where you plan to hang it–your tree, mantle, etc.
We hung it on our treed but it wasn’t long before Graham was on the cookie prowl. But hey, it’s edible and that’s the fun in it!
