Finally sharing some pictures from our little family getaway at the Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona a couple of weekends ago! Brett and I realized that we have never really vacationed just the five of us. We usually travel and go on “vacation” with or to visit family. Our kids are getting to that age (at least Owen and Miles) where they’ll actually remember the things we do together as a family. Some of my best memories of my childhood are of the vacations we took together, as simple as they were. Something about getting out of town, or just a change of scenery and experiencing a new place together makes those memories stand out a little more + solidify them!
These are the kind of memories we want to start making with our boys. So when we had the opportunity to partner with the Four Seasons for a weekend stay we were the thrilled and so grateful! We arrived on a Friday and stayed through Sunday, it was a great little getaway and perfect to kick off our summer!
Brett made a little video of the trip too! Obviously we are biased but I will watch this over and over because these boys crack me up. Please don’t mind the mess of our bedroom right before leaving (why does a bomb go off at my house every time we head out of town!)
The resort is tucked away, about 20 minutes outside of Scottsdale so we really just stayed at there and enjoyed the pool, the food, and all the resort amenities and entertainment!
We were so pleased with how kid-friendly and family oriented the resort was. The resort staff was SO friendly and even left us a few surprises (aka treats) each day! They even knew Miles’ had a birthday earlier in the week and left him a special birthday present. He was thrilled! They gave him the biggest and most amazing cake pops I’ve ever tasted! We ate them all before dinner.
We ate SO much good food in one short weekend. We ate most of our meals at Proof -an American canteen- because it was so good! We ordered the pretzel bites with spicy cheese sauce at least 3 times in two days (our room was conveniently located right next to the restaurant!) Their shakes are worth the calories and they even have half off ice cream each day for their “Ice Cream Days of Summer!” We might have taken advantage of that a couple of times:)
Oh, and the breakfast buffet at Proof is everything! The gluten free waffle bar and omelet station were my favorite. And it has the coolest ambiance. I’m already craving it all.
We happened to be in Arizona on one of theeeee hottest weekends! I’m talking 110-117 degrees. So it worked out perfectly to be at the pool a good chunk of our time. If you’re good with just spending a couple of relaxing days at the pool (and we totally were), the summer months are a great time to head to the Four Seasons and stay at a lower rate than peak season prices ๐
These boys were the best of buds this weekend. It doesn’t always happen, but I hope they will remember it and how much fun they had together.
The resort also has a Kids For All Seasons children’s camp each day. And it’s FREE! You can check your kiddos (over five) in and out every day between 9am-5pm. Owen was the only one old enough to stay by himself, so Brett took all of the boys for a bit to play games while I snuck a workout it. Then we swapped. They could have stayed all day if we let them, ha.
We thought maybe we could get a early morning hike in while were there, but it really was too hot for the boys to do that, so we used the workout facility at the resort and it was so nice.
This picture โโ was the result of burning hot concrete and NO shoes as we headed out to the pool! Miles burnt his little toesies to the point of blisters. Serious #momfail and rookie to the Arizona HEAT!
Naps before we were back at the pool for a Dive-In Movie. We watched Aladdin and the boys though it was the coolest!
Ps. I love vacation naps.
I can’t even handle Graham little (big) booty in these swimmers here. He is seriously his dad’s mini me ๐
Oh, and the boys LOVED the poolside mac-n-cheese. I tell ya, they lived like kings.
We headed out Sunday afternoon just in time for church with friends in Gilbert, Arizona. It was 117 degrees and we were sweating bullets by the time we got to our air conditioned car! It was definitely so much better to be in the water!
We had such a great weekend swimming, had lots of laughs, and left with tired, well fed and happy kiddos. Thank you so much for hosting us Four Seasons Scottsdale!
