Has anyone else seen the Rice Krispies commercial for the Hidden Surprise Easter Egg Treats? Talk about a fun and easy treat for Easter. The little ones will love helping with these!
I didn’t have a little helper (mine is too little, and all he cared about was eating more marshmallows) but I had fun making these for some of our friends.
Whip up some Rice Krispie Treats and press the mixture into large plastic eggs, using your fingers to hollow out a small hole in the middle.
Slide the mixture out of the egg and fill one half with some of your favorite Easter candy. Press the two halves together to close the egg.
Surprise!
Easy, cute and fun. I think they’d be even more fun to use in an Easter Egg Hunt!
Hidden Surprise Easter Egg Treats
Ingredients
makes two dozen Rice Krispie Eggs
3 tbs. butter
4 cups mini marshmallows or 1 (10oz) package regular marshmallows
6 cups Rice Crispy Cereal
12 large plastic Easter Eggs
Instructions
Clean out the plastic eggs then lightly coat with cooking spray.
In a large saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
Stir in Rice Krispies cereal until well coated. I like to spray my spatula or spoon with cooking spray so it doesn’t stick to the mixture.
Using greased hands, firmly press 1/4 cup of Rice Krispies mixture into both halves of each plastic egg. Use fingers to make hollow center in each half. Remove from molds. Place on wax paper and let cool slightly.
Place your choice of candy inside one half of each egg. Gently press the two halves together until they stick.
**Decorate the outside of the egg if you’d like with frosting and additional candy.

I’ve tried this…have done two batches tonight and I’m MISERABLE. I am a very intelligent woman but this silly little treat has me stumped.
I’m so sorry it’s not working for you! My best tip is to spray the plastic eggs with a little Pam, and your hands too so the rice crispie’s don’t stick. And you just have to work quickly while the rice crispie mix is soft!
