Hey guys! Who’s ready for the WEEEEEKEND?! I’m soooo ready! Cookies on a Friday night anyone???
But first, you get to be inspired by one of my new friends Jenna, from Hello Fab Blog! Jenna is a fashion and style blogger, business coach, a mama, and one of the sweetest girls I’ve “virtually” met!
Jenna is kind of famous on Periscope. Maybe you’ve heard of it? It’s a really fun app where you get to watch/interact with people live. From what I’ve seen (and I’ve only been a stalker over there, watching my favorite bloggers and friends) it’s a positive, supportive community where you just get to be YOU. Jenna did this interview on Periscope last night and you guys can watch the replay to hear her answer some questions about how she got started in her business, about blogging, and motherhood, and it will feel like you’re right there with her in person! Just find her on Periscope at @hellofab
Maybe I’ll be brave enough to scope one of these days! rls at Smal
Brief intro:
I’m 26 years old, a stay at home mom, I write the blog Hello Fab Blog, and have 2 little boys. We currently live in LA while my husband is in law school.
Q: How did you start your business/blog?
A: When I first started Hello Fab it was an online women’s botique. I sold women’s apparel and jewelry and had so much fun doing it! It was a great outlet for me after my first baby and transitioning from working full time to being a stay at home mom. I knew I wanted to do something from home to make money so I started the botique. It was fun, but soooo much work! Soon after having my second baby I decided I wanted to do something different, sold my shop, and kept my business name and social media platforms and started blogging!
Q: What does a typical day at your house look like?
A: Our days pretty much look the same every day. My oldest son goes to preschool a few times a week for a couple of hours and my youngest boy naps at that time. That’s when I get a lot of work done. Thankfully, both boys still nap for 2-3 hours in the afternoon too and I’m able to work more then, clean, prep dinner….do all that fun mom stuff. Living in LA we get outside a lot, go to the beach, go to Disneyland, and just have fun!
Q: What is your best advice on how to balance work/mom life?
A: I would suggest setting boundaries. Set specific work hours and outside of those hours focus only your family! And the best advice I would suggest is that if you can afford it, hire out. Hire a virtual assistant, social media assistant, house cleaner, babysitter, etc.
Q: What is your best advice for growing your blog/business?
A: Try and kill it on social media! Pick a few that you feel like your niche is hanging out on, and focus on that. With whatever social media platforms you chose, be consistent in sharing and put out quality content. I love the quote “You can do anything but you can’t do everything!” There’s too many social media platforms out there to be active and successful on all of them. So just to focus on a few! Post often, be social, and post quality content- photos.
Q: In one word describe what being a mom of boys is like..
A: Rambunctious, but I love it.
Q: Favorite thing to do to escape or take a mom break? Favorite guilty pleasure?
A: Shopping 🙂 And I love a good dessert, especially ice cream.
Q: What has being a mom taught you about yourself?
A: I feel like I’ve learned that I can do a lot of things that I didn’t really think were possible. It’s kind of like starting a blog or business…you don’t know what you’re doing or how to do it until you do just do it!
Q: Who or what inspires you? Any inspiring mamas we should know about?
A: I love following @ashleysfreshfix on instagram and periscope. She does a lot of social media and business tips, she has good balance of work/mom life. she owns several businesses and is successful in both! Give her a follow.
Thank you so much Jenna! I loved learning more about you, your journey as a business owner & blogger, and mother!
