These cheerio bars {let’s just call them cheerio bars because really, that name is just way too long} could be the perfect afterschool snack. They could be, and I’m sure totally would be if there were actually any left by the time your kiddo(s) got home from school.
Oopsie. Who can resist a pan of ooey-gooey peanut buttery cheerio treats. With chocolate chips on top?
O actually never stood a chance at getting any of these because he’s allergic to peanut butter. So really, I was forced to eat all of them.
To make these all you need to do is melt peanut butter, honey, and little bit of coconut oil together. Pour it over some Honey Nut Cheerios, mix it up and press it into a pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips + a little sea salt and chill. Sea salt can be optional (maybe your kids won’t like it, but if they’re just for you, then do it!)
- 4 cups Honey Nut Cheerios
- 1/2 cup all natural peanut butter
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
- dash sea salt
- Melt honey, peanut butter, and coconut oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Place cereal in a large bowl. Pour peanut butter mixture over cereal and gently stir until combined. Spread into an 8X8 inch pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Sprinkle sea salt over the top. Chill until ready to serve. Cut into squares and serve.

can another kind of oil be used instead of coconut oil

You could probably try canola or vegetable!!
