It’s funny how such a simple thing like a hot dog can make me so happy. I’ve always been a sucker for hot dogs, especially at ball parks and sporting events, and summer barbecues. But this Cuban Style Hot Dog really got me giddy. Funny how food can do that to you…or maybe just me? If you want to know how to really make a hot dog good, make it Cuban Style. I couldn’t get over how delicious this cheesy, doubly meaty hot dog was.
Summer is just around the corner and this is one hot dog you’ll want to make! Start by grilling up your hot dogs. Just before they are done, layer slices of swiss cheese and ham on your hot dog buns and broil them in the oven until their nice and toasty and the cheese is hot and bubbly.
Place the hot dogs on the buns and top with some sliced red onion and top with a pickle spear. The whole pickle spears are the icing on the cake to these ‘dogs. We love Farmer’s Garden by Vlasic pickles. Owen happens to be a pickle lover, like me. Right now, pregnancy has me craving pickles like crazy, and I love that Owen will sit down at the table with me and eat pickles whenever I get a craving. Eating pickles and talking four year old talk is one of the greatest things in the world. I want to soak little moments up like these forever. These are the simple kind of moments I live for.
And of course simple foods like a delicious hot dog loaded with ham, cheese and a giant pickle spear! I can promise you I’ll be enjoying these babies all summer long!

- 4 beef hot dogs
- 8 slices of swiss cheese
- 8 slices of deli ham
- 4 buns
- 1/2 of a red onion, sliced thin
- 4 spears Farmer's Garden Pickles by Vlasic
- Cook the hot dogs on the grill or broil in the oven.
- Lay hot dogs buns on a baking sheet, open, and layer two pieces of swiss cheese and sliced ham over the inside of the bun. Just before the hot dogs are done, place the buns in the oven and broil until the buns are toasted and the cheese is melted.
- Place the hot dogs in the buns and top with a pickle, sliced onions and mustard.
