This Chocolate Peanut Butter Greens Protein Smoothie is one of my go-to morning smoothies that’s packed full of nutrients and keeps me full all morning!
Happy Monday you guys! I love starting the week with a sweaty workout and a healthy breakfast! It sets the tone for a healthy week (even if you derailed a little this weekend ๐๐ผ} I’ve really been loving this Chocolate Peanut Butter Greens Protein Smoothie lately, it’s been my go-to for a quick breakfast after my workout. And its packed with so much goodness using just a few ingredients! It’s really so simple too!
Don’t let the “green” scare you away because you really cant taste them, and it really just tastes like a chocolate peanut buttery treat! FOR REALS! For the protein, I use half plant-based chocolate protein powder and half collagen peptides to give it that yummy chocolate flavor (while still getting the benefits of collagen peptides and all the benefits of plant based protein).
What are the benefits of using Plant Based Protein?
I’ve been using this plant-based Orgain Creamy Chocolate Fudge Protein lately and have really liked it. It’s made with clean ingredients and just doesn’t make me feel as bloated as whey protein was making me feel. Plant based proteins are full of vitamins and minerals, fiber, and healthy fats. However- plant based protein powders do have a different texture than whey protein powders- a little grainier or grittier. It takes some getting used to. But for me it’s totally worth it. Not to say I won’t ever use whey (because Brett uses it regularly and we always have it, plus it does taste good).
To help make it creamier and not as gritty, I always add half of a frozen banana and do one scoop of the Orgain and one scoop of Vital Proteins collagen peptides. Using real peanut butter over peanut butter powder also helps! And then I always let it blend for the full time on my blendtec plus an extra little pulse!
So not only do you get the benefits of plant based protein, you get a boost of collagen too- which promotes healthy skin and hair, and a healthier gut! There’s a whole list of the benefits of collagen- but I notice the biggest difference in my skin and hair when I use it regularly. I’ve been using Vital Proteins since the beginning of my pregnancy and I rarely miss my daily serving. It’s totally helping with my post-partum hair problems too (I can finally see baby hairs coming in strong)!
Soooo basically this Chocolate Peanut Butter Greens protein smoothie is full of all the good things-vitamins and minerals, fiber, protein, and collagen. Such a great (and really good tasting) way to start your day!
Hope you guys have a great week!!
Chocolate Peanut Butter Greens Protien Smoothie
Yield 1
Ingredients
6 oz unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/2 frozen banana
heaping handful of spinach
1 scoop chocolate protein powder (I like Orgain Chocolate Fudge)
1 scoops collagen peptides (I use Vital Proteins)
1 tbs all natural peanut butter OR pb fit peanut butter powder
1 tbs cocoa powder *optional for extra chocolatey flavor ๐
handful of ice
Instructions
Place everything into your blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Add more or less ice to get the desired thickness you like. I like it thick so add a little extra ice.
Notes
If you don't have collagen or aren't using it, use 2 scoops of your favorite chocolate protein!
