I told you we’ve been drinking tons of green smoothies lately. My little boys are even drinking them, even asking for them in the morning or at night for a treat. This isn’t normal for my picky eaters, most days it’s a battle to get them to eat their fruit and veggies. So any time little O asks for a green drink we make him one! This Minty Green Apple Green Smoothie is a new favorite.
Tart green apple with a subtle hint of fresh mint. The flavors compliment each other quite perfectly.
Plus, both apples and mint promote digestion so it’s a great green smoothie to start your day with!
Mmm, I am loving crisp, green apples lately. But really love drinking them.
This is one of the easiest green smoothies to blend up–water, spinach, green apple, mint leaves, and ice. Add an optional green banana to make it creamier and add a little extra fiber. My husband informed me green (or not ripe) bananas contain less sugar and more fiber than a ripe banana. Crazy right? I had no idea. Plus, green bananas are more mild in flavor than a ripe banana, which is great for this smoothie. You don’t want the banana to overpower the apple and mint flavors!
- 8 oz water
- 2 large handfuls fresh spinach
- 1 green apple
- 1 green banana (**optional--see note)
- 3 mint leaves
- 1 1/2 cups ice
- Place everything in a blender and blend until smooth and frothy.
- **a green banana is a banana that isn't ripe and will not have as strong of flavor but will help give it a creamier texture. green bananas are more starchy, but less sugary and contain more fiber! this is an optional add in!

Looks great! I’ll definitely try it, but I think I’ll add some natural greek yogurt instead of the banana 🙂

This is the next green smoothie on my list to make. I have never added apples to my smoothies and am wondering if you recommend leaving the skin on the apples. Can’t wait to try this recipe, it sounds delicious.
Thanks!
