Scholastic and First 5 California have created the Talk.Read.Sing.® program with lesson plans and activities, parent resources, and tracking resources to encourage kids to talk, read, and sing every day. Research has shown that doing these three things every day with young children builds important connections in the brain that can change their lives forever!
The three seem pretty obvious, I even thought to myself of course I do that. But as I paid closer attention, I don’t always do ALL three each day with each of the boys. I really love that the Talk.Read.Sing.® program has online printables to help us track what we are doing. But I’m even more excited about the Talk.Read.Sing.® App that will launch in the coming weeks!
The site is bilingual, including English and Spanish. We love the tracking charts and prompt cutout cards that we can bring with us anywhere to remind me to Talk.Read.Sing.® while we’re out and about. Doctor’s offices, getting the oil changed in the car, or while waiting for food at the restaurant, there are so many opportunities to talk more, read more, and sing more with our kids that I usually miss! And if we get the kiddos involved with the tracking charts it makes even more fun for them!
Be sure to check out the Scholastic + First 5 California site and look for the Talk.Read.Sing.® app to launch soon!
